New Members "Survival Guide"

Regular Meetings
Après meets the second Wednesday of every month for socializing, discussing new activity's and for new activity announcements.  During the summer, our meetings are held outdoors in a park, after having a robust barbeque.

Also 15 or 20 of us gather every Friday evening for TGIF   We do this mostly for socializing; after all, we are a "singles" club.  It is also a GREAT time to mingle with the club officers and activity directors, who are frequently present.

Activities
Our core activity is skiing: regular downhill, snow boarding and cross country.  We also promote and participate in racing in the OLRC, The Après Ski Club Racing team has been the winning ski club for five years running.

Even though we are a "ski" club,  we are also a year round activity club.  In our off season our activities include: tennis, biking, hiking, roller blading and backpacking.  We don't limit ourselves, regarding activities.  The more the merrier.

Ski Lodge
The Après Ski Club wholly owned lodge is located in Kings Beach, on the North end of Lake Tahoe (map) and conveniently located for easy access to several Ski Resorts: Northstar, Alpine, Squaw, Mount Rose and many others.

Our lodge accommodates up to 30 people.  It includes a fully equipped kitchen, sometimes with food, depending on your luck and a Hot Tub.  The lodge parking is onsite and flat.

For more details on lodge accommodations, rates and other information of general lodge interest, go to the lodge information and booking page.

Club Demographics
The Après Ski Club Membership is around 400 with a large age range from the low 20’s to the high 70’s.  Many of our younger members are professionals with demanding jobs which limits the local activities they can attend.  Ergo, don’t be surprised if the age range seems to be a little on the high side when attending some local social and activity events.

To explain, a lot of the more mature club members have lots of recreation time so hiking at 8:30 on Wednesday mornings seems like a very worth while time for recreation and socializing.  Our younger members are already on their second cup of coffee, trying to escape from the office by digging a hole.

So, our members with working schedules usually save their very precious available recreation time for winter time activities especially and an occasional robust hike or bike activity in the off season.

In any case, you can see all of us on the slopes and hills at one time or another, world wide.
