Candidate
Treasurer:
My name is Cheryl Lawson.
I am a native Californian, born and raised in the Bay Area. After graduating from high school I pursued my goal in Commercial Art. I obtained an AA degree in Art, but as all things change I went on to further my education and obtained a BS degree in Accounting from CSU East Bay. I still pursue my passion in Fine Arts and have a website www.cheryllawson.com-many of my paintings in both Oil and Acrylics hang in local Galleries and commercial buildings.
My career title is a Tax Accountant and Consultant, and my expertise is in Real Estate tax. I hold a current California Real Estate Broker’s License (and have for more than 25 years.) My license has been with ‘Better Homes’ in Danville for the past ten years.
My passion is SNOW! I ski and snowboard depending on the conditions and who I am with. I took up snowboarding ten years ago, after skiing since I was a kid. I also volunteered for the National Ski Patrol. I have raced for this club and other clubs skiing and snowboarding, and received many awards. I have also been a volunteer for the Disabled Ski Association through the years. Another of my new snow adventures is X-country Skiing. It is a time when you can be athletic, yet have the time to stop and enjoy the scenery surrounding you. A time when you have great photo opportunities; which for myself, are saved for future paintings.
I have been an Apres member since 2003, and Treasurer for three and a half years. I am currently your Treasurer on the 2007/2008 Board. I received Board Member of the Year in 2005/2006.
I also have run many events at the Lodge, and at Sheepranch; as well as hosting Travel Trips both foreign and domestic. Currently I just took a group to Park City, Utah, and will be taking a group to Colorado in March. I was on the BAC Board last year for the FarWest Convention held in San Jose. I also have been a delegate representing Apres at the previous FarWest Conventions for the past four years.
I have enjoyed working with the current Board, and look forward to being your Treasurer for another year.
Sincerely,
Cheryl T. Lawson
