Après Race Team - Open League Champions !

By john Schultheis

It is official now! Après Ski Club is the Champion of the Open League Racing for an amazing Seventh year in a row.

This year Après had 567 points to win the Championship. The Olympic Club in San Francisco was second with 395 points and Modesto Ski club was third with 328 points.

This year the Après Race Team had 47 members, down from 65 members last year. In spite of that we still had over 200 racer starts over the span of 7 days of ski racing.

This year we had a wonderful group of new racers join the Race Team. Many of them had never skied on a race course in their lives. Our rookies earned over 140 points this year, so we would have had a hard time winning the Championship without them. In addition, we had a few people transfer over to the Après Race Team from other teams or from other Leagues. Again, these new racers made significant contributions to the winning effort.

I would like to personally thank all of the fine racers that competed on behalf of Après Ski Club this year, and I want to say that I am proud and honored to have been their Race Director for this past Ski Race Season. If you see any of the Après Racers at a general Meeting, or a TGIF or a BBQ or whatever, be sure to shake their hands and congratulate them on a job well done!

If any of you other skiers out there would like to get in on the fun next year, you can contact me or you can access the Après Race Team web page on the racing page of the Après web site.
