Apres Lodge Kitchen Remodeling Update, September 2004

The Apres Lodge is looking SPIFFFFYYYYYY! If you haven't seen the new GRANITE Kitchen counters and Back Splash, You will be Amazed at the impact it will have on your Psychic.

Our Good friend Steve Stanton has worked many many days for you our beloved Apres member. Thank You Steve.

Was it all smooth going. Oh Yeh! Murphy was our best Buddy. Murphy's Laws are still in tact on this venture. This Saga is so exciting that I am not sure where to begin. Let's see, was it when we found the kitchen electrical wiring in total disarray and had to tear out all the walls and rewire the entire kitchen. Or was it when we found that the Granite did not have enough hold on the Formica. Oh Well!

Ok, we put the walls back after rewiring. The Cement board was a week long job. Nails every 7 inches in a grid along with thin set and metal carriers on the edges. Have you ever cut Cement Board to fit odd sizes. It was like a cement dust snowman. Is Steve a Saint?

To make life a Fast Track event, the Luau weekend was starting on Friday and on Thursday morning the Stoves and counters were in the middle of the kitchen and Carol and I were sealing the Grout. ie: No cooking, No setting anything on the counters and No functionality in the Kitchen. Helga was on the way up. Yahoooo! I think in the "Real World" it is called just in time delivery. Up here everything is "Tahoe Time". OK, we made it to functionality. Are we done? I think Not. I picked up the final Bull Nosed Granite pieces and new Oven Hoods. We just keep Working It?

Come up and see a great Work in Progress. October Fest is just around the corner. Enjoy your ever improving Lodge.
