APRES LODGE WORK PARTY, July 2004

Work Party!?! Let's see, the Margarita and Pina Colada Machine started up Friday night and ran through Sunday. Saturday had beer, water and soda pop on ice all day. What great fun. The 25 participants all agreed that it was exciting with good camaraderie. The BBQ saw salmon, steak, chicken, Bratwurst, corn on the cob, several different types of salad, veggies and multiple hors d'oeuvres. Food breaks were numerous and many went the two blocks to the beach where they jumped into Lake Tahoe. Mmmmm, how refreshing. Beach breaks were encouraged.

The Group was broken up into eight teams. Each team had it's own leader. Oh, "Tahoe Time" resulted in all the gravel and firewood being delivered the Monday after the work party. Oh well, my own private gym.

So much was accomplished that the next work weekend will be just a decorating weekend. We still have room 7 and more bathrooms. What fun.

You will notice changes everywhere at the Lodge. The entire inside of the Lodge was rewired. Switches and outlets are all first class and convenient. You will love it. The Lodge is now up to CODE. Thank you Cal Bisson and Helga Campbell for Thursday and Friday wiring. Thank you Richard Fisher and his team (Cheryl Lawson, Allen Norton, and Steve Stanton). The electrical work under Richard went on through Tuesday.

Helga Campbell with the help of Bonnie Patterson and Don Gelo totally transformed Deluxe Room 3. Come up and check it out. Wow!

Laura Bryan with the help of Janet Stewart and Sandy Saadi set off an unbelievable sortie of creativity. The far back upstairs bathroom----oh boy, you have to see it, and words just won't do it justice.

Both sets of outside stairs were repainted as the precursor to the trim next year when we repaint the Lodge. They look so bright and fresh that one feels a need to climb on them. Helen Scully led the effort with Tom Van Bogart, Alaina Souza (my daughter), Brad Dupree and myself going at it. I think there was some Mark Twain effect going on. Brad was the fix it team leader also.

Oh my, we have the "Horse Shoe Pit" to end all "Horse Shoe Pits". Come up and see the special challenge weaved into the course. David Whetzel and John Stoddard decided we would have a very SPECIAL course. It is a great sport. Come up and challenge someone.

Thank you yard clean up and decorating group, Liz Gehrig, Dessy Vamporova (your new Scribe Editor) led on with help from Allen.

Pick a weekend and come on up. Check it out. There is a continual bevy of improvements being implemented at the Lodge just for you.

Special thanks to my weekend co-host Sandy Saadi; she is Assistant Lodge Operations Director as well as Assistant Property Director.
