It is Après policy that email messages to the general membership not contain personal information.
Après policy also prohibits passing on "inspirational" messages and those dealing with charities
and most other public service issues. This is because such items are of a very "personal" nature
and belief and your ideas and beliefs might conflict with the beliefs of other members. Après
does not take a stand one way or the other on these subjects; Après simply does not pass them on
to the general membership, as they are not relevant to the purpose of Après Ski Club.
Requested postings, which appear to be directed to one person, i.e. a conversation or message, will be rejected. People do, from time to time, hit the "reply to all" button when sending responses to postings received from the group, but these will not be forwarded. Such messages should be sent via a private email list to friends. Messages sent to the Après general email list will not be approved. Requestors will be sent a gentle reminder that the purpose of the Après yahoo group is to provide information that benefits the entire group. The Après general membership list is used to notify Après members of Après sponsored events and issues, sports events - items and issues which may be of interest to the general membership. Tickets, house rentals, equipment for sale, ride shares, etc should be posted to the Message Board on the Après website at http://www.apres.org, although you may also post ride share messages to the yahoogroup, so long as they contain the words Ride Wanted or Ride Offered in the subject header for ease of deletion. Thanks for your understanding. April 2004 Email Pertaining to Rideshare Postings on apres@yahoogroups.com - 1/9/04
In the interest of providing the best value to the Club in terms of making ride sharing opportunities known and available to all, we are opening up the apres@yahoogroups.com email list to the posting of emails pertaining to carpooling. We discontinued this practice last year due to complaints from members about the high volume of emails coming through on their readers, instituting a Message Board for this purpose on the http://www.apres.org website. Unfortunately, member use of this Message Board has not caught on as rapidly as we had hoped, and this, coupled with the extremely time-sensitive nature of ride-share postings, has caused us to re-evaluate this decision. There are a couple of caveats with this however:
